On tour to
support his self-titled super album featuring the Grammy-nominated mega-hit,
“Take me to Church,” Hozier flawlessly
serenaded a 17-song set to a full-capacity crowd at the Ogden on Wednesday.
Hozier’s
humble demeanor is a far cry from his impressive 6’5” height, neither of which
hindered him from capturing the attention of the audience. Hozier gifted his
eclectic catalog of songs to the intimate crowd with fervent passion.
Opening act,
Icelandic singer Asgeir, was the
perfect complement to Hozier’s performance, engaging the audience with his
hypnotic and soothing melodies. With this dynamic duo, it’s no surprise that
this 30-date North American tour quickly sold out.
Fans who
know the album by heart were certainly not disappointed; and for those who
bought a ticket based solely on their love of “Church,” they’ll undoubtedly
know the album by heart when Hozier returns to an already sold-out show at Red Rocks this summer.
